Resistance Training Tips

Weight or resistance training is great for health and well-being, especially for women. You don't have to do a lot to get results fast. Just remember to take it slow and easy. Build up a little at a time. As with any new program, be patient with yourself.

Add some fun music to the mix and start resisting for your overall health!

At-home exercise

  • Squats for your legs, stomach, and lower back
  • Lunges for your upper legs and glutes
  • Planks for your core, back, and shoulders
  • Push-ups for your chest, shoulders, triceps, and core

Consider investing in a few hand-held weights to increase the resistance.

And remember these benefits:

  • Weight training helps protect the joints. Stronger muscles take the strain off joints by lessening the load on them. You get less knee and hip pain when muscles start pulling more of their weight!
  • Increased muscle mass burns more calories.
  • Increased energy puts a spring in your step.
  • Body composition improves as muscles lose slack.
  • Mood gets an uplift from as circulation revs up!
